My name is Carrie Vines and I'm a little obsessed with Disney's Haunted Mansion. I'm blessed with a husband who supports my obsession and even encourages it. My kids, well...they barely tolerate it. But they're young and resilient. They'll recover.

My husband, Sam, and I have always celebrated Halloween with a little more enthusiasm than anyone else on the block. When we decided to start an annual haunt, we both looked to the Haunted Mansion for inspiration. It was then we discovered the collector's circuit and our calling. While searching the web for Haunted Mansion decorating ideas, I stumbled across Doombuggies.com and found my refuge on the internet. I've met some of my closest friends on doombuggies, and spend my time there hearing other collector's stories, seeing their collections and the creative ways in which they displayed their pieces, sharing our defeats and celebrating our victories on ebay when we finally procured that one 'must-have' piece. MPC Model Kits

I’ve already posted about the MPC Model Kit – Grave Robber’s Reward on my previous blog. Today I’m posting about the 2 other kits I have in my possession – Vampire’s Midnight Madness and Play It Again, Sam. MPC Model Kit Series released these kits in 1974.

This first kit arrived at my door step in pretty bad condition, but it seems as though all the pieces are here. dsc_0219web

Vampire’s Midnight Madness is not a scene used in the Haunted Mansion, but the tombstones look quite familiar!

I get quite a chuckle from the little storyboard on the side of each kit.

Just so you don’t take blood sucking demons too seriously, Disney sneaks in a smiley wishing you a happy day and reminding you of good oral hygiene.

Here is Play It Again, Sam, which like Grave Robber’s Reward, is still sealed in its original shrink wrap. It is quite a bit larger than the other model kits.
