Welcome Foolish Mortals

My name is Carrie Vines and I'm a little obsessed with Disney's Haunted Mansion. I'm blessed with a husband who supports my obsession and even encourages it. My kids, well...they barely tolerate it. But they're young and resilient. They'll recover.

My husband, Sam, and I have always celebrated Halloween with a little more enthusiasm than anyone else on the block. When we decided to start an annual haunt, we both looked to the Haunted Mansion for inspiration. It was then we discovered the collector's circuit and our calling. While searching the web for Haunted Mansion decorating ideas, I stumbled across Doombuggies.com and found my refuge on the internet.  I've met some of my closest friends on doombuggies, and spend my time there hearing other collector's stories, seeing their collections and the creative ways in which they displayed their pieces, sharing our defeats and celebrating our victories on ebay when we finally procured that one 'must-have' piece. If you haven't checked out doombuggies, go check it out. NOW. And then come back here and share your favorite Haunted Mansion collectible or tattoo or shrine to Master Gracey. You're among friends here.

Thanks for stopping by and just as in the ride, I will conclude here with Little Leota's haunting words:

"Hurry back… Hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now. We've been  'dying’ to have you…”

An email from Guillermo!

Thanks to Harry, I received an email from Guillermo Del Toro yesterday letting me know that he is a big fan of Doombuggies.com! I’ve invited him to come and share his some of his collection here on Haunted Mansion Collectibles! Please leave some love here in the comments so he knows how much we would enjoy a sneak peek into his collection!!

July 20, 2011 - 7:06 pm Carey Torrice - I love the Haunted mansions at DisneyWorld and Disneyland. I was married i DisneyWorld and I tried to have my reception at The haunted Mansion...but they wouldn't let me. I give anything to be in the new movie.

July 25, 2010 - 2:35 am H. B. Ghost - Welcome, Foolish Mortals -- As many of you know, I am The Hatbox Ghost from MiceChat, DisFriends, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and the blog, "Dorian Gray's Painting Is Not Alone" (to be updated soon). I, the MiceChatter HBG2 and my Twitter follower HitchHikinGhst are responsible for The Hatbox Ghost Wikipedia listing. And I am the author of two petitions to restore yours ghoully (moi) to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, the very attraction from which I was exorcised for unghostly conduct, more than four decades ago. Please, Mr. Del Toro, share with us your undoubtedly remarkable collection of goodies on this most SPOOKTACULAR of Haunted Mansion websites. Furthermore, hire Carrie Vines to be your set photographer, Dan Olson (author of the "Long-Forgotten Haunted Mansion Blog" and a deep, philosophical and savant-like Haunted Mansion expert) as a consultant, and me -- well -- you and I should chat -- seriously. I have many ideas concerning the character of your main character, and simply would love to share with you my thoughts -- providing that my head remains in place on my shoulders long enough. However, the good news is that, if it doesn't, it never goes very far. That being said, show us your stuff! You're in the company of fiends -- I mean FRIENDS -- and kindred spirits. Sinscarely, H. B.

July 25, 2010 - 12:10 am Paul Cieslewicz - I am absolutely thrilled that Guillermo Del Toro is going to be behind a Haunted Mansion film. After the travesty that was the Eddie Murphy version (sans Jennifer Tilly...I enjoyed her as Madame Leota) I thought I wouldn't see a proper version done for years to come. And to have the Hatbox Ghost be the link between the Mansions is genius! Does this mean we'll see versions of the Disneyland, Disneyworld and Phantom Manor represented? I would love to see what pieces of Haunted Mansion memorabilia he has in his collection. Please grace us with your wonderful collection. And if you have any open calls or need any extras for the film just let us know. :)

July 24, 2010 - 11:06 pm Johnny Love - Very cool! I'm on the edge of my seat with all this exciting news. www.LoveManor.com Home Haunt & Display

July 24, 2010 - 7:45 pm charlotte - Man, I love the way he thinks- use the movie budget to get more props for his HM room!!! This seems like it's gonna be so cool, and I'm diggin the 3-D. Thanks Carrie, for putting this link on here! I would have never seen this interview, and it was extra special to get to see him talking about the movie instead of just reading about it :) What an awesome mind Mr. Del Toro must have to be able to bring our precious Hatbox Ghost to life in a movie! Yay!!

July 24, 2010 - 7:02 pm Master Gracey - Wow! I'm VERY excited to see some of his collection!

July 24, 2010 - 5:58 pm ste3ve - Well, speaking as one of the Hatbox Ghost fanatics, I'd love to see anything he's willing to share.

July 24, 2010 - 5:55 pm Adriana Langston - As a Doombug for many years, I can't even express how excited I am that you will be working on a HM movie! Finally a fellow Doombug will give it the life, love, and vision it deserves. I am also a big HBG follower and the fact that you will be incorporating him into the movie just makes me squeal with delight! As a child I had the vinyl record of the HM (with Ron Howard)...I played that so much I wore it out. My hats off to you Mr. Del Toro, I know you will make us Doombugs proud! Oh, and I would love to see your collection!! I currently moved into a new house that I am just dying to decorate "Haunted Mansion style" so any decorating ideas would be greatly appreciated.
